Giulia is a nurse currently enrolled in a joint Ph.D. in Nursing and Public Health (Tor Vergata University, Australian Catholic University). This has not stopped her from traveling, even via Zoom, as she cooperates with researchers in Italy, US, and Denmark. She grew up in Bergamo, a town in the foothills of the Italian Alps. Since she was a child, she has loved traveling and is always planning the next journey. Over the years, she has learned to enjoy the little things, like experimenting with new recipes or sipping hot chocolate. In her research, Giulia investigates how the brain perceives and responds to symptoms (i.e., interoception) in people with chronic diseases. Additionally, she explores how heart failure patients perceive symptoms and what influences their symptom burden, and she collaborates in research projects involving cancer patients (e.g., family-focused care; a symptoms-tracking app).
