Remembrances
John R. Tierney, 2nd LT, USAAF, Class of 1946 was an Arlington, MA native, born 12/1/22 and a P-38 pilot stationed in Bari, Italy during WWII. He was engaged in flying fighter cover for B-24 bombers enroute to Ploesti Oil Fields when he was killed. His date of death was 8/29/44. John was my cousin, and next door neighbor. On behalf of all the Tierney family I want to thank you for including his name on this wonderful memorial to all the members of the Boston College family who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. John left Boston College part way through his sophomore year in order to serve his country, and never returned to complete his education.
