Normal Hours/Week Hours Accrued/Month Accrued Over 12 Months 20 4.0 48.0 hours 21 4.2 50.4 hours 25 5.0 60.0 hours
Vacation Time for Exempt (monthly) Employees
A part-time Professional/Administrative employee earns vacation at the same rate as a full-time person (e.g., 1 5/6 "days" per month), but the calculation is based on an "average day." An "average day" equals the normal hours per week divided by five. A simplified calculation method follows.
Accrual Rate Average Days"Ìý Per Year Accrual Calculation 1 5/6 days per month 22 Normal hrs/wk x .3667 = hrs earned/month 2 1/4 days per month 27 Normal hrs/wk x .45 = hrs earned/month
Example:
21 hrs/week (divided by 5= 4.2 hrs/average day)
21 hrs x .3667 = 7.7 hrs earned/month (x 12 = 92.4 hrs accrued/year)
(92.4 hrs/yr divided by 4.2 hrs/average day = 22 "average days" per year)

Example:
21 hrs/week (divided by 5= 4.2 hrs/average day)
21 hrs x .1667 = 3.5 hrs earned/month (x 12 = 42 hrs accrued/year)
(42 hrs/yr divided by 4.2 hrs/average day = 10 "average days" per year)
