Cheryl S. Bratt

Associate Professor of the Practice

Profile

Cheryl Bratt is an Associate Professor of the Practice at Boston College Law School.Ìý She teaches Law Practice I and II and in the Critical Perspectives course, which she helped design and implement. Her writing interests include law school pedagogy, teaching methods, and children's rights. In 2022, Bratt received ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ Law’s EmilÌýSlizewski Award for Excellence in Teaching. Prior to joining ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ Law, Bratt was a lecturer at Harvard Law School and the Assistant Director of Harvard's Child Advocacy Program. She was also a fellow at the University of Michigan Law School’s Pediatric Advocacy Clinic, where she taught courses and supervised students litigating special education, family, and domestic violence cases.Ìý

Before entering academia, Bratt was a litigation senior associate at WilmerHale in Boston, where she represented parties at the trial, appellate, and U.S. Supreme Court levels. She clerked for the Hon. Norman H. Stahl on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the Hon. Mary A. McLaughlin on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Bratt graduated with high honors from the University of Michigan and the University of Michigan Law School. Prior to earning her J.D., she taught eighth grade English language arts in New Orleans, Louisiana, through Teach for America and later worked as a regional director for the organization.ÌýShe also served as a paralegal to the Legal Advisor to the Government of Eritrea.
