MUSA1100 Fundamentals of Music Theory
A recent graduate from the Masters program at Longy School of Music, Leah Kosch received her Bachelor of Music from Ohio State University. Her teachers have included Dr. Hugh Hinton and Dr. Caroline Hong. During the past few years, Ms. Kosch has performed throughout the Boston and Cambridge area as both a soloist and collaborative musician.
As a chamber musician, her recent performances have ranged from Brahms to Copland. Ms. Kosch has participated in Longy faculty concerts, Septemberfest, and family concert series, as well as performances at Boston University, Boston College and the New England Conservatory. Through Brevard’s summer festival, she also had the privilege of playing with the Brevard Music Center orchestra under the baton of Keith Lockhart.
Leah has also been an active participant in both contemporary chamber and solo music. She recently performed at the PARMA festival, Portsmouth’s new music festival, and has taken part in SICPP, New England Conservatory’s contemporary summer festival. The following Boston Globe review is of her shared performance in Lukas Foss’sNi bruit ni Vitesse: “…the combination of clanging, buzzing, and slow-rolling scales was mysterious and magical.” Ms. Kosch has also premiered works by several composers with groups such as the Boston New Music Initiative, and through Brevard’s new music program. She was also asked by the composer David Walther to record an opera with the Acting Singers Project, which was completed in 2010.
Ms. Kosch is currently on faculty at Boston College, Brookline Music School, and Rivers Conservatory. She is also the music director for Christ Church in Quincy.
