Basic to Advent is the miracle of the incarnation. But how are we to understand that doctrine? For the Christian tradition, Christ assumed human form in Bethlehem in order to illustrate God’s solidarity with all of us, but most importantly with those who suffer. To grasp the central mystery of the Christmas season, we must attend to Christ’s sacramental presence among the poor.
