The Student Conduct Board in the Office of the Dean of Students is committed to developing a more welcoming and responsible Boston College community.Â
The board accomplishes this goal by:
- adjudicating alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct
- recommending status sanctions consistent with the University's standards, andÂ
- educating and supporting students holistically through the conduct process.
Student Conduct Board
The Student Conduct Board is a campus group composed of undergraduate students from all class years and a graduate student assistant. As part of the Office of the Dean of Students, we believe in a holistic conduct process and manage each student and case individually. Students involved in the conduct process should review the Student Code of Conduct (bc.edu/studentcode) to learn and become familiar with conduct policies and procedures.Â
The Student Conduct Board relies on staff from the Office of the Dean of Students to determine appropriate charges. The board's role is to review the case, including the incident report and evidence, and meet with participants and witnesses to determine responsibility and recommend sanctions, if applicable. The Student Conduct Board makes responsibility findings and sanction recommendations in consultation with the Office of the Dean of Students.
Peer Conversation Program
In addition to adjudicating conduct cases, board members meet with students individually through the Peer Conversation Program. The Peer Conversation Program connects students with trained peers who can help them engage in informal, meaningful conversation while reflecting on their past behavior and developing strategies to better navigate their Boston College experience going forward. A peer conversation can be assigned as part of a student’s sanction.
