In its Decree on Ecumenism, the Second Vatican Council identified the restoration of Christian unity as a primary concern, emphasizing the special ties of sacraments, theology, and spirituality that hold the Catholic and Orthodox Churches in unique closeness. Â Â This lecture reflects on the progress of this ecumenical dialogue in the U.S. since its official beginning in 1965. Â This dialogue is a sobering yet hopeful commentary on a practical aspect of preaching and living the Gospel, acknowledging divisions, as well as the possibility of moving beyond them. Â Â Â
